2010 Gracious Lady

Gwen Johnson is the 2010 Superior's Gracious Lady.  Gwen is a Nuckolls County resident and has been involved with the museum since 1974. She was on the  committee when they were raising money to have a county museum.  At present Gwen is the curator at the museum and has been for the last few years. "She is the spoke in the wheel that keeps things going" says the volunteers of the museum. Gwen has the ideas for displays, can see what needs to be done, she also does a lot of the paper work that needs to be done.  Every summer she has "Art In The Park" for elementary children and they do art projects which Gwen has came up with.  If there is worked to be done before hand, she has it done before the classes start, sometimes with the help of her husband Gayle.  There is no charge for this program and it is something she enjoys doing.

Gwen lives in the Oak area, and she and her husband come to Superior at least once to three times a week to do what needs to be done at the museum.  She receives no salary or mileage as curator, her husband comes with her each time and puts in as much time as she does doing things that needs to be done.

For the Victorian Festival Gwen is instrumental in finding people to do the "Living History Days" at the museum.  Gwen and a number of volunteers put on the living history both Saturday and Sunday during the festival.
